Inspired by the work of George Nakashima, this table was also designed with the intention of creating a base that can complement the fluid and natural beauty of the single slab table top. The two stretchers run the whole length of the table base, a design choice that mirrors the gradual taper of the natural live edge.
The top of the table features a central knot, filled with epoxy, as well as some peripheral figure/striping. The check, which is stabilized by three bow-tie style inlays, is a visual reminder of the imperfect nature of living wood, and brings me to really appreciate the natural beauty that imperfect forms can have. My favorite aspect of the table is in the crotch of the slab, where there is a stream of delicate wisp's that look as though they could almost be the trail of a fairy- which lead to the name; The Trail Table.
